Family Deployment Readiness Workshop

Is your family getting ready for a deployment this year? Join the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC) for a Family Deployment Readiness Workshop—designed to provide the guidance, resources, and support your family needs to be confidently prepared for your next deployment. This event will allow your family to check lots of pre-deployment tasks off your list all in one evening! 

What to Expect: 

 Deployment Readiness Stations 

• Deployment Binders – Pick up your deployment binder and get support in organizing key documents.
• Kids Deployment Support Group – Learn about our in-school program to support children during deployment. 
• Deployment Wall Inspiration and Supplies – Gather ideas and fill out a Deployment Wall Request Form to start creating a meaningful deployment wall for your family with supplies provided by the PMFRC 
• Military Family Navigators – Connect with a Navigator for answers to your deployment-related questions. 
• Books and other Deployment Resources – browse a selection of deployment-related books and resources you can request copies of 
• Special Needs Resources – Access our lending library and explore available support options. 

Mental Health Presentation - Thriving Through Deployment: Navigating Connection and Strengthening Attachment 

• Gain valuable insights from the PMFRC Mental Health Team on strengthening relationships, managing separation, stress and fostering connection as a family, and setting healthy expectations around deployment. 

Childcare and Family Care Information 

• Emergency Family Care Assistance & Emergency Childcare Plans – Get assistance in preparing your plan and pick up an Emergency Family Care information folder 
• Speak with members of our Children’s Services team to learn about available childcare programs 

Connect with Other Military Families 

• Share experiences, build connections, and gain support from families experiencing a deployment.  

Child-Friendly Activities for Ages 6+ 

• While childcare will not be provided during this event, activity stations will be set up for children ages 6 and up to keep them engaged as they accompany an adult to the event. 

Light snacks & refreshments will be provided. Family members are welcome to attend with or without the CAF member in their family.
