    CHIEF OFFICIAL
Lieutenant Peter Broussard has been a part of the CAF Squash program for over ten years. He quickly became an advocate for the sport, and spent the last decade developing his skills as a player and official, as well as promoting the sport at the grassroot level.

Lt Broussard has competed in six national competitions, and attended multiple leagues and competitions as an official such as; Alberta Squash competitions and championships within the CAF. Although still an active player, his love for the sport has led to the position of Chief Official.

There are so many positive outcomes to playing sports. The physical health benefits tend to be the most obvious, but sports also have a recognized impact on mental health, they teach and help develop leadership skills, and they are an amazing way to get to know people. That last point, in particular, is something I’ve greatly appreciated throughout my career. From the intra-mural to the national level, sports have given me, and so many of us, the opportunity to make connections with other CAF members regardless of background, occupation, environment, or rank. These connections have been both personally and professionally meaningful.

Of the potential activities that one could choose, squash is an ideal sport. It is tremendously fun, it is physically and mentally challenging, but yet at the same time it is easily accessible. And it is a sport that by its nature promotes socialization and camaraderie – it’s hard not to when you share a barely 10 x 6 meter box with someone else!

It’s a privilege to be appointed as Squash Patron, and I’m very pleased to continue to promote and support the development of this incredible sport in the CAF.
