The first of its kind for the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Centennial campaign launched RCAF Game Force - a recreational and competitive Esports and Gaming program. With an increasing amount of military esports and gaming opportunities, and member participation, CAF Esports - Game Force - proudly represents all elements of the CAF community.
Moderate gaming can be a positive way to connect with others and create a virtual community while action games can enhance the ability to learn new cognitive tasks. Our esports events provide a forum to build leadership, cooperation and resiliency.

2026 GAME FORCE TEAM TRYOUTS
Qualifying events will begin late April 2026 to select members of our 2026 Game Force teams who will represent the CAF at upcoming events such as the International Defence Esports Games (IDEG), CODE Bowl, and more.
We will be evaluating and selecting players to participate under all of the following titles:
Call of Duty Warzone
Counter Strike 2
iRacing
Rocket League
VelociDrone (Virtual Drone Racing)

ABOUT IDEG26
In partnership with the British Esports Federation, the International Defence Esports Games (IDEG) will be the first global, Esports Championships for serving Military (Regular or Reserves) from across partner countries. IDEG will be a fun, collaborative and positive environment to showcase future cyber and digital skills and talent for the armed forces.
IDEG26 will take place at the brand new state-of-the-art National Esports Arena in Sunderland UK October 2026. Participating countries will compete in regional qualifiers throughout June and July 2026 with the top 8 nations advancing to the final event in Sunderland.
CODE BOWL
Established in 2023, the RCAF Game Force Warzone team defied the odds in October 2023 by attending their first ever CODE Bowl and brought the winning championship title north of the border! The team set three tournament records including:
First Esports gaming championship Win for Canada, at first ever attended event
Only military team with a female participant
Team member, Corporal Ryan Mezei “GetPicked, was awarded the CODE Monster MVP, a title that was first introduced in 2023
In 2025, veteran players GetPicked and Librim were joined by Aces and Outplayed to compete at CODE Bowl VI in Las Vegas, NV. While not the results the team had hoped for, it was a great opportunity all around to compete and engage with our military allies from each of the UK and US.
Corporal Ryan “GetPicked” Mezei, returns to the Call of Duty team to lead Game Force at his 3rd consecutive C.O.D.E. Bowl appearance. Recipient of the C.O.D.E. Bowl IV Monster MVP award, Cpl Mezei brings a level of competitiveness to the Game Force team that is on the radar of other attending nations. Currently a firefighter at 12 Wing Shearwater, Cpl Mezei was raised in Brampton, ON playing competitive hockey and baseball which influenced his passion for other competitive sports, including gaming. Call of Duty: Warzone being his favourite of the competitive first-person shooter game genre. Cpl Mezei continues to elevate his skills and leadership and has once again been appointed Team Captain of the Game Force Call of Duty team.
Returning to the Game Force Call of Duty team for his 3rd C.O.D.E. Bowl appearance, Corporal Brendan “Librim” Jatsura is currently an Infantry soldier for the Second Royal Canadian Regiment (2 RCR) at CFB Gagetown. Cpl Jatsura serves as a LAV 6 (Light Armoured Vehicle) Crew Commander and was a part of Operation LENTUS, where he helped combat wildfires in Shelburne, NS. Raised in Brampton, ON and playing competitive sports, Cpl Jatsura has always had a passion for competitive gaming. Originating with Gears of War and Counter Strike, his preference now includes battle royales, specifically Call of Duty: Warzone. A veteran of the Game Force Call of Duty team, Cpl Jatsura’s leadership, passion and skillset complements the intended team competitiveness of Game Force on C.O.D.E. Bowl’s international stage.
Sergeant Andrew “Aces” Hewitt is an Artillery soldier currently attached to 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA) at CFB Petawawa as a First Support Coordination Centre Sgt (FSCC). Raised in Guelph, ON Sgt Hewitt played competitive soccer and now brings that competitive nature to gaming. He began gaming at the early age of 6yrs on his PS2 and DS Lite enjoying game titles such as Dark Souls, Mario kart, Pokémon and Ghost Recon. Sgt Hewitt was introduced to the Call of Duty franchise at the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and has been playing competitive CoD ever since. As his game of choice, Sgt Hewitt has elevated his skillset competing with friends, family and in Ranked Play; which as a result, has enabled him the opportunity to be selected and excel as a member of the Game Force Call of Duty team. This will be Sgt Hewitt’s first appearance at C.O.D.E. Bowl.
Corporal Brett “Outplayed” Babin has served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for thirteen years and is currently posted to CFB Halifax. Cpl Babin spent 12 of those years as an Air Weapons Systems Technician before recently transitioning into the Cyber Operator trade, bringing his technical mindset to both his career and his gameplay. Raised in Halifax, NS, he first discovered his competitive spirit on the basketball court, playing daily as part of a local team. That same drive fueled his early passion for gaming, starting with Call of Duty 4 and continuing through every release since, with notable success in Modern Warfare 3 wager tournaments. This will be Cpl Babin’s first appearance at C.O.D.E. Bowl.
