PatronI grew up in Abitibi, Quebec, where the wilderness and strong community values shaped my respect for resilience, teamwork, and service. These lessons guided me when I enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1991, embarking on a rewarding journey. My career began as an Infantry Officer with the 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, and later included an exchange with the 1st PPCLI. I deployed to Croatia under the United Nations and served with the Reconnaissance Platoon during aid-to-civil-power operations for floods and an ice storm. Each role taught me the value of adaptability, cooperation, and trust in my team. I’ve had the privilege of commanding soldiers in Afghanistan, teaching future leaders at the Infantry School, mentoring leaders up to the Brigade level, and shaping strategic policies at NDHQ. Whether organizing collective training or leading on operations, I’ve learned that leadership is about team building, empowering others, and maintaining clarity of purpose in the most challenging environments. Education has been a cornerstone of my career much like competitive sports like football, soccer, and broomball. I also had the privilege of learning golf, racquetball and badminton. Whether in individual or team sports, clearly the coaches, officials, and other players all contributed to my development as a person. Beyond my profession, I’m passionate about the outdoors and sports. My incredible wife and two children are my greatest source of strength. Their unwavering support reminds me of the importance of balance and perspective. As I continue to serve, I am privileged to be the Patron of Badminton and remain committed to fostering resilience, camaraderie, and excellence within the Canadian Armed Forces.
