Insurance for Released Members
Former CAF members and their spouses can access this customized coverage to protect their family’s financial future.
Within 60 days of release, transfer your Optional Group Term Insurance or Reserve Term Insurance policy to Insurance for Released Members with no medical requirements.
Alternately, a released member can initiate or increase their Insurance for Release Members coverage by completing an application for insurance.

General Officers Insurance Plan
Created for Regular and Primary Reserve Force Class C senior officers, includes basic life, dependent life, and accidental dismemberment in one policy, funded by the Government of Canada.
- • Coverage for Regular Force and Reserve Force Class C senior officers at the substantive rank of Colonel and above, and the legal classification of Lieutenant-Colonel are automatically enrolled on the date of promotion.
- • Reserve Force Class C officers in the substantive rank of Colonel and above in all classifications, and Lieutenant-Colonel in the legal classification are eligible* for coverage under the Res GOIP on the date of promotion to the lower eligible rank, or on the date of employment in the Reserve Force Class C service at the lower eligible rank.
* Please note that for Reserve Force Class C officers, coverage is NOT automatic. Reserve Force senior officers become insured once the enrolment process is completed and the eligibility is confirmed by SISIP Financial.
Military Post Retirement Life Insurance Plan
Created for Regular and Primary Reserve Force (Class C only)* senior officers, includes basic life, funded by the Government of Canada.
• Coverage for Regular Force and Primary Reserve Force* senior officers at the substantive rank of Colonel and above, and the legal classification of Lieutenant-Colonel are automatically enrolled on the date of promotion.
