Minimum qualifications are mandatory for all CAF Regional, National, and International coaches and assistant coaches. While it is not mandatory for local level coaches at this time, it is strongly encouraged.
Is funding avaliable for courses that are not listed? And how do I apply/receieve funding?
For courses that are not listed as a requirement by the CAF Sport Program, an application for funding assistance can be submitted through the your local PSP Sports Coordinator via the CAF Sports Out-Service Program.
As per the PSP Policy Manual, all members of the CAF are eligible for selection to attend clinics, courses, workshops, or seminars conducted by recognized civilian sports agencies to stay abreast of developments in the field and/or obtain qualifications in officiating, coaching or managing sports activities. Refer to the PSP Policy Manual Part 5 – Section 5, para 105: Out-Service Training for additional details.
Do coaches and/or assistant coaches take a spot on eligibility lists?
For Regional and National Championships (in collective team sports) one additional spot is allotted to the team composition as per the CAF Sports Operations Manual in your respective sport.
For example, if a team is permitted 20 spots on an eligibility list then they will be able to bring 20 athletes plus 1 coach. Assistant coaches take a spot on the eligibility list, therefore if the same team also has an assistant coach they would be able to bring 19 athletes, 1 assistant coach and 1 coach.
