The PSP Reconditioning Program supports Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members as they go through CAF rehabilitation, toward a return to active duty and improved quality of life. Access individualized and holistic fitness training as part of your rehabilitation.
Work with certified clinical exercise physiologists
Get support from PSP reconditioning staff, who hold the Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification under the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CEP) and are trained to work with severely ill and injured personnel.
Use PSP Reconditioning in conjunction with all rehabilitation services
PSP Reconditioning Program personnel partner with CF Health Services, CAF Transition Group, Soldier On, and B/W CoC, to provide dedicated support to soldiers recovering from illnesses and injuries. This shared approach ensures a seamless transition between physical rehabilitation and physical fitness reconditioning, which is crucial to developing personnel’s functional independence and returning to active duties.
Expect a fitness program customized for you
No two paths to recovery are the same. The PSP Reconditioning program offers an individualized approach to help military members achieve their fitness and health goals.
Get support with a flexible and adaptable approach that may include:
- Health and wellness activities
- Fitness training
- Sports
- Recreation
- Solider On and community activities
Your individualized reconditioning plan accommodates your comfort level with different activities, your physical capabilities, access to equipment and available programs on base and in the community.
Maintain reconditioning, even if you relocate
The partnership between health and fitness professionals on each B/W ensures smooth transitions for personnel during all phases of recovery. Each B/W program is overseen by their respective reconditioning manager or their reconditioning specialist.
Program principles
The PSP Reconditioning Program builds on principles established by the CF Health and Physical Fitness Strategy – a roadmap for improving the fitness of the CF as a whole – and the individualized care for the ill and injured provided through both Bases and Wings (B/W) Transition Center and the CF Rehabilitation Program.
The PSP Reconditioning Program is a key piece of the CAF TG’s Return to Duty Program. The network of PSP Reconditioning Program staff is available to support ill and injured personnel in CAF communities across the country and beyond. By providing customized fitness training plans, these specialists support CAF members in regaining functional abilities, and work with them to achieve the high level of physical fitness required to be operationally ready and effective members of the military.
