CAF Women in Sport Program 2024-2025

Woman playing volleyball
CAFSO is proud to transition this initiative to the CAF Women in Sport Program. We continue this effort to support the increase of women’s participation in CAF Sports and to increase our efforts in directly supporting B/W sports delivery for their members.

The program aims to reduce various obstacles and challenges that have traditionally hindered women's full and equal participation in sports, thereby creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for female athletes participation to thrive and excel.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Increase participation rates among women in a variety of sports and physical activities
  • Promote and support women's sports at all levels, from grassroots to elite and to showcase female talent and achievement
  • Educational programs on nutrition, injury prevention, and mental well-being tailored specifically for female athletes.
  • Provide equal access to training facilities, coaching, and resources for female athletes
  • Encourage leadership opportunities for women within sports organizations, such as coaching, administration and governance roles
  • Combat stereotypes and discrimination by fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and gender equality in sports
  • Celebrate and recognize the accomplishments and contributions of female athletes, coaches, and leaders to inspire the next generation of Canadian in Armed Forces Women in Sports.

GOAL

  • To support up to $3000 per B/W financially in their effort to offer women in sport opportunities. Up to $500 of this total may be used towards equipment purchase to augment WIS Program (subject to case by case approval)
  • All B/W to complete a minimum of one initiative in 2024-2025.
