Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can my child attend the Before and After School program at Lil’ Troopers South even though they go to school at Valour?
No, only children who attend St.Francis of Assisi school can attend our Before and After School program. The PMFRC offers Before and After School Programs at Valour and Our Lady of Sorrows schools. All three schools and programs have different start and end times. Additionally, PSP offers Before and After school care at Valour and St. Francis of Assisi if our list is full.
-
Can I choose to use before school care or after school care? Or do I have to register my child for both?
Families can choose between before and after school care, they do not have to register for both. However, programs fill quickly, and there may not be space to add the child to additional program hours should a family’s work situation change throughout the school year.
-
Can my child attend their Before & After School program on PA days, or during March Break and summer months?
No, the PMFRC Before & After School programs operate during school instructional days. If you require care on PA days, March Break, or during the summer months, you can register your child with camps run by our community partners including PSP and the Town of Petawawa.
-
Why do I have to provide indoor shoes and a change of clothes for the Before & After School program when they already have these items in my child’s school classroom?
The Before & After School programs are run by the PMFRC as a third-party operator and staff do not have access to the school classrooms. Children require indoor shoes in the event of a fire drill or evacuation and so they can participate in gym activities safely. Extra clothes are required for messy play and during the winter months when there is a chance of being wet from playing outdoors.
-
When my child turns 13 years old, are they able to complete the school year or are they no longer allowed to attend the program?
Yes, your child is able to complete the school year with the program if they turn 13 during the school year (September to June).
