• LRDG Online Self-Directed Learning: ESL and FSL

  The Language Research Development Group (LRDG) platform provides self-led learners with the ability to take lessons anywhere with flexible scheduling to fit your busy life. The curriculum is divided into 16 modules ranging from beginner to advanced, as well as navigational support to guide you when needed, and can help you gain the skills needed for your bilingual certification.

  Options include:

  • ESL – English as a Second Language – For the Love of English
  • FSL – French as a Second Language – Pour l’amour du français

  Second Language Training (SLT) programs are offered at no cost to Military families (spouses/partners and dependents over the age of 18.)    

• Parents' Second Language Support Guide

  Hey parents: Are you finding it challenging to support your child’s second language learning or would you like to enhance their educational success - and limit your stress? Register for the Parents' Second Language Support Guide!  

  You’ll receive practical tools and strategies that support home learning while playing a vital role in your child’s learning.  
     
  This is a quarterly resource for families containing tips & tools as well as links to relevant learning activities to help your child's second language learning.  
  
  Take-home kits, such as word wall materials, are available to families each quarter where you can build upon their vocabulary and acquire a variety of language skills. 

• Practical Second Language Training Kits

  Are you relocating to a new community that speaks French? Or maybe you want a bit more practice? Learning a second language requires visual tools and activities to enhance language acquisition. Our new language kits are available for learners who wish to build upon their skills with activities to support vocabulary and practical conversations.

  These SLT kits are designed to focus on language topics like: 

  • Openers and Greetings 
  • Asking for Help 
  • Expressing emotions 
  • Ordering Food  
  • Banking  
  • Shopping 
  • Booking a medical appointment 
  • Asking for directions 
  • Weather phrasing, and more! 

  Military Family Members (partners and dependents over the age of 18) can register to receive their first kits.
  
  Please note: Before moving to the next level kit, a summary assessment will be completed to show the learner is confident with what they learned and understands their kit's content.
