Reconnecting After Deployment - Virtual Workshop

families reuniting

Reconnecting After Deployment is a welcoming space created to support families through this in-between phase. Where things aren’t quite how they were before, but not yet what they’ll become.

  • 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Virtual

When a loved one returns home, everyone expects it to feel easy - like everything should just fall back into place.

But often, it’s the little things that catch us off guard.

The routine has changed. The roles have shifted. Even something as simple as where the toaster lives can suddenly feel like a big deal.

You might find yourselves navigating:

  • Different expectations of “home” and daily life
  • Changes in independence, routines, and responsibilities
  • Miscommunication, tension, or feeling out of sync
  • The quiet pressure to “just be back to normal”

If any of that resonates, you’re not alone.

Reconnecting After Deployment is a welcoming space created to support families through this in-between phase. Where things aren’t quite how they were before, but not yet what they’ll become.

Hosted by the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC), alongside trusted community partners, this evening will offer:

  • Honest conversations about the transition home (the expected and the unexpected)
  • Practical tools to help you reconnect, communicate, and move forward together
  • A chance to connect with others who truly understand this experience
  • Direct access to supports that can make this season feel lighter

This isn’t about getting it “perfect”. It’s about finding your way back to each other in a way that works for your family.

Whether this is your first homecoming or one of many, you deserve support through every step of it.

Each participant will receive a personalized Welcome Home Workshop Package, complete with materials to create your own welcome home poster—offering a meaningful way to prepare for and celebrate your loved one’s return. Pick up date will be provided after registration.

This virtual workshop is free to attend and designed for Military families.  Limited spots are available, register now using the form below to save your place before May 18.
