Deployment Support Resources in Petawawa

Military Family Navigators are here to support families during the pre-deployment and deployment stages with personalized physical resources and supports designed to help make time apart feel more manageable and connected.

Available supports may include Deployment Walls featuring clocks, mailboxes, and other interactive items to help families stay connected and track time apart in meaningful ways. Military Family Navigators can also recommend and provide books, journals, activities, and comfort items that support emotional wellness, routine, resilience, and family connection during challenging moments.

Our goal is to help families feel supported, connected, and cared for throughout every stage of the deployment cycle. We encourage families to connect with a Military Family Navigator to learn more about available supports and explore which resources may best support their unique deployment experience

Ongoing Programs

  • Reintegration Boxes (for adults or children)
Reconnect, celebrate, and create meaningful moments together. Families can work with a Military Family Navigator to customize a reintegration box filled with thoughtful activities and resources designed to support connection and easse the transition home following a deployment or extended absence. Boxes can be tailored to adults or child-friendly.
  • Deployment Readiness Binder
The Deployment Readiness Binder is a practical resource designed to help military families feel organized, informed, and prepared before, during, and after a deployment. Bringing important information together in one convenient location, the binder encourages families to proactively organize essential documents, emergency contacts, financial information, household details, and personal plans before an unexpected need arises.

More than just a binder, it promotes a culture of preparedness - empowering families to navigate deployments with greater confidence, reduce stress during times of uncertainty, and ensure that important information is readily available when it matters most. Whether it's your first deployment or your fifth, the Deployment Readiness Binder serves as a valuable tool to support your family's readiness every step of the way.
  • Deployment Dolls
The PMFRC's Deployment Dolls are designed to provide comfort, reassurance, and a tangible connection for children during the absence of a deployed parent. Each doll can be personalized with a photo of their loved one, offering children a familiar face to hug, talk to, and keep close throughout the deployment.

Each doll is accompanied by a beautifully written children's book, authored by a military spouse, that gently explains deployment through the eyes of a military family. Together, the doll and story help children understand their emotions, encourage meaningful conversations, and foster resilience while reminding them that, although their loved one may be away, they are never alone.
