About the Deployment Lending Library at the PMFRC in Petawawa

The Deployment Lending Library offers a wide range of thoughtfully selected items that families can borrow, explore, and use to build connection, comfort, and success at home. Whether you're navigating a work-related absence, reintegration, or simply looking for tools that strengthen family routines and resilience, our lending library is here to help you feel grounded, supported, and never alone.

The Deployment Lending Library operates on a borrowing model; items may be reserved through a Military Family Navigator at the South Side Community Centre, loaned for a two-week period, and must be returned at the end of the borrowing window for continued community access.

Deployment Lending Library Overview

  • Children
Children can borrow age-appropriate, hands-on items that help them express feelings and feel safe during separation and reunification. Materials may include visual coping tools, calming sensory items, story-based resources, and simple activities that help children name feelings and feel safe.

The focus is on helping children understand their emotions and build comfort routines they can use at home.
  • Teens
Teens can borrow tools that encourage self-regulation, independence, and healthy coping during deployment and reintegration. Items may include guided reflection resources, stress-relief tools, grounding techniques, and practical strategies they can use on their own or when feeling overwhelmed.

The goal is to give teens practical supports that respect their independence while helping them stay connected and resilient.
  • Families
Families can borrow shared tools designed to bring everyone together by promoting connection, co-regulation, and open communication across all ages.

Items may include family-based activities, emotional check-in supports, and coping tools designed to be used together during challenging moments.

The focus is on strengthening family routines, improving communication, and building resilience together during times of change.
  • Couples
Couples can borrow resources that strengthen communication, emotional awareness, and reconnection during reintegration. Materials may include conversation prompts, shared grounding practices, and tools that encourage intentional check-ins and mutual support.

The emphasis is on practical strategies couples can use together at home to navigate stress, rebuild routines, and strengthen their relationship.
