Play Troop / EarlyON Program Descriptions

• Drop-in at the South Side Community Centre

  Join us at Play Troop / EarlyON for a drop-in, in-person playgroup for parents and care providers with children ages 0-6 at the South Side Community Centre. 

  The South Side Community Centre provides access to indoor and outdoor play spaces.  
  
  The drop-in program is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the summer months, and additionally on Fridays in the fall, winter and spring.
  
  Please see calendar above for exact dates and note that as a drop-in program, the classroom may occasionally reach capacity on busy days and families are able to participate on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  
  Bring indoor shoes and a peanut free snack. Please note that hot beverages such as tea and coffee are not permitted in the Play Troop / EarlyON program areas.

• Afternoon Programs: Music & Movement

  Music and Movement is a one-hour afternoon program where children aged 0-6 and their families can engage in activities like movement songs, trying musical instruments, finger plays, and more! Join us from 2 :00 PM – 3 :00 PM for this in-person session. This is a drop-in program, no pre-registration is required. 

  This activity takes place at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave.  
  
  This program does not run in the summer.

• Afternoon Programs - Tot Time

  Tot Time is a gentle and engaging program tailored for infants between the ages of 0-18 months. It takes place at the South Side Community Centre.

  With an emphasis on bonding and connection, care providers and infants will enjoy a variety of activities including interactive songs, finger plays, stories and connection.  

  [Program Disclaimer: This program is strictly for children between the ages of 0-18 months. Unfortunately, dueto safety, we cannot permit siblings or children over the age of 18 months.] Pre-registration required on KEyON.

• Friday Park Days

  Meet Play Troop/EarlyON at various parks around Petawawa on Fridays starting in May from 9 AM – 11:30 AM for Play Troop / EarlyON in the park for parents and caregivers with children ages 0-6. In case on inclement weather such as thunderstorms, the session may either be cancelled or moved inside to the classroom at the South Side Community Centre, please check the PMFRC Facebook page for updates in these cases.

• Saturday Stop & Play
  Hey families! Join us for a fun morning at South Side Community Centre (1578 Wolfe Avenue) where you can participate in fun and engaging educational programming with your children age 0-6 years. This is a drop in program, registration is not required, check the calendar to confirm the location. 
  
  This program does not run in the summer.
• Daddy & Me

  Hey Dads ! Enjoy supper with us and have fun doing different activities with your children ages 0-6.  

  This program is open to Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, and male care providers.   

  This activity takes place at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave.  

  Menu : Pizza and Salad 
  
  This program does not run in the summer. 

• Mommy & Me

  Hey Moms ! Enjoy supper with us and have fun doing different activities with your children. This program is open to Moms, Grandmas, Aunts and female care providers. This activity takes place at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave.

• Saturday Morning Breakfast

  Hey families, enjoy breakfast with us and have fun doing different activities with your children ages 0-6.  

  This activity takes place at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave.  Pre-registration required on KEyON.

• Take Home Kits in English and French
  Do you love participating in the fun and engaging activities that Play Troop/EarlyON sets up each day ? Would you like the opportunity to do them at home too? Now you can ! Each kit will contain everything you need to create your own fun at home. Recommended for children ages 2.5 -years old. Limited quantities are available in English and French.
  
  Kits are available for registered families to pick up once per month at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave. Visit www.keyon.ca to pre-register and view the next upcoming pick up dates.
• Sensory Play Lending Library
  The Play Troop / EarlyON Sensory-Play Lending Library is comprised of three main components: a sensory tray, sensory items and a variety of tools that were all thoughtfully chosen to promote exploration and purposeful play. Families have the opportunity to get creative and enjoy some sensory experiences in the comfort of their own home for one week at a time. A new sensory experience is available to borrow every other week!
  
  Kits are available for registered families to pick up every other Friday at the South Side Community Centre at 1578 Wolfe Ave. Visit www.keyon.ca to pre-register and view the next upcoming pick up dates.

• Tuesdays at Home Fires Park
  Meet Play Troop/EarlyON at Home Fires Park on Moreuil Wood Blvd. in Petawawa from 9 – 11:30 AM for Play Troop / EarlyON in the park on Tuesdays starting on June 30, 2026 !
  
  Please plan to meet the group directly at the park and note that the drop-in classroom at the RecPlex is closed on Tuesday Park Days.
  
  This activity takes place outdoors, please bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle. (Home Fires Park is located on Moreuil Wood Blvd. on the North Side of Garrison Petawawa and may not appear on Google and Apple Maps).
