Join us for a fun, hands-on Little Italy–themed cooking class focused on connecting through play by using food, teamwork, and shared experiences to build connection and enjoy quality time together.

While this is called a “parent–child” class, any supportive adult in a child’s life is welcome to attend, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, adult siblings, or other trusted caregivers. Children must be 9 years of age or older to participate.

This interactive experience brings together one parent or supportive adult and one child to cook side by side in a welcoming, supportive environment. Guided by a professional chef, participants will work together to prepare a meal, learn new skills, and sit down to enjoy what they’ve created.

This event supports gender-based violence prevention by strengthening healthy family relationships, encouraging positive communication, and building trust between children and the adults who support them. Shared activities like cooking offer a simple, age-appropriate way to practice cooperation, emotional awareness, and positive interaction. These are all important protective factors that help families thrive and align with the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence, which emphasizes prevention through promoting healthy, respectful relationships.

Calgary MFRC events are open exclusively to members of the Defence Community, which includes currently serving Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members (Reservist and Regular Force) and their families, CAF Veterans and their families, as well as DND, PSP, and MFRC employees and their families, unless otherwise stated.
