Empowering Community Through Volunteer-Hosted Fitness Classes

In early 2023, Warrant Officer Jean-Paul Lecuyer approached PSP at CFB Kingston with a proposition to introduce a boxing fitness class as a new addition to the drop-in sports program. His keen interest in boxing and expertise in fitness were the driving forces behind this idea. Recognizing the potential benefits this program could offer, PSP endorsed the proposal, setting the stage for what would become an immensely successful initiative.

Since its launch in July 2023, the boxing fitness program has seen remarkable growth. Initially starting with two morning sessions per week, the program has expanded to include three weekly sessions, catering to a broader range of participants. Additionally, PSP professional development sessions have incorporated elements of boxing fitness, further extending the reach and impact of the program.

Beyond the regular drop-in classes, Jean-Paul has generously offered his expertise to Unit Physical Training sessions upon request. These sessions have become highly sought after, demonstrating the value and popularity of the boxing fitness program. Units across CFB Kingston have benefited from his instruction, enhancing their physical training routines with boxing techniques that promote strength, endurance, and overall fitness.

The introduction of boxing fitness has provided the CFB Kingston military community with a fresh, engaging, and effective way to stay fit. Jean-Paul’s leadership and team-building abilities are evident in the thriving boxing fitness program. His dedication to the participants' progress, coupled with his skill in creating a cohesive and dynamic class, has set a high standard for fitness programs at CFB Kingston. Under his guidance, participants have not only improved their physical fitness but also developed a greater sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

As it continues to grow and evolve, it will undoubtedly remain a cornerstone of CFB Kingston's fitness offerings, inspiring many to pursue their fitness goals through the art of boxing.
