Maj Jimmy Gaudette has dedicated over five years to volunteering as a military taekwondo instructor. He imparts his knowledge and experience to military personnel and community members, offering classes across various levels for individuals ranging from young children to advanced adults. The classes, spanning 2.5 hours each, are held twice a week for nine months out of the year.
Maj Gaudette's influence extends beyond physical training; he inspires children and adults to exercise at their own pace and according to their developmental needs. His teachings emphasize core values such as courtesy, integrity, courage, perseverance, and self-control. He cultivates an inclusive learning environment by welcoming and supporting individuals with diverse learning needs.
In 2022, Maj Gaudette launched the Ottawa Military Taekwondo Program in the National Capital Region. This initiative includes classes in two different city areas, Uplands and Leitrim, making martial arts accessible to a broader community. Through this program, he has created opportunities for youth who have recently acquired black belts to help teach classes, fostering their motivation and pride in pursuing the sport while contributing to the community.
Maj Gaudette's commitment to martial arts and community service continues to inspire many, demonstrating the transformative power of dedication and inclusivity.
