This section combines information and resources to help Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members understand the release process, explore available supports and prepare for what comes next.

  • Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group

    The Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group (CAF TG) provides personalized and standardized casualty support, education and services to members and their families to assist in transition. The group gives special attention to ill and injured members, their families and the families of the deceased. 
    In addition to the CAF TG headquarters in Ottawa, there are nine regional Transition Units and 26 Transition Centres across the country to serve members and their families. Members of CAF, the Department of National Defence (DND), Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and other partners provide personalized, professional and standardized transition services to all CAF members, Veterans and their families to inform, prepare and empower them as they navigate towards life after service.

  • My Transition Seminar Online

    This online information offers members the opportunity to learn about post-military life. The information is presented in three seminars: a general one focused on helping members prepare for post-military life; a medical seminar to help ill and injured CAF members prepare for post-military life; and an executive seminar aimed at preparing senior officers for post-military life.

    My Transition Seminar ─ General - This seminar aims to prepare CAF members for post-military life, whether their transition plan is to seek full-time civilian employment, completely retire or anything in between. This seminar is applicable to CAF members undergoing a voluntary release, but specifically addresses those 5 to 10 years prior to their targeted release date. This seminar covers information pertinent to all members.

    My Transition Seminar ─ Medical - This seminar aims to prepare ill and injured CAF members for post-military life, whether their transition plan is to seek full-time civilian employment, completely retire or anything in between. They are applicable to any CAF member who is undergoing, or likely to undergo, a medical release from the CAF. Topics include information on medical benefits and services to assist ill and injured members as they navigate the release process and help their transition to civilian life.

    My Transition Seminar ─ Executive - This seminar aims to prepare senior officers for post-military life, whether their transition plan is to seek full-time civilian employment, completely retire or anything in between. They are by invitation and tailored to officers of the rank of Capt(N)/Col or above. The executive seminar provides specific content geared towards conflicts of interest and post-employment obligations. These events are only offered within the National Capital Region, or via online platforms.

  • Canadian Armed Forces Case Management Services

    Case management services, provided by CFMWS and Veterans Affairs Canada, are for members who are transitioning out of the CAF. This service provides professional guidance to CAF members following an illness or injury to help them reach health and wellness.
