  • What is the new RCAF category, Your Air Force? Is it different than the standard CAF Imagery categories?
    This year, to commemorate and celebrate the RCAF’s significant milestone of 100 years of independent service to Canadians, the CAF Imagery Contest is hosting the Your Air Force category.  This category is organized by the RCAF Centennial Team and includes photographs that pay tribute to the RCAF Centennial, whether it be related to an event, activity, celebration or personal experience. Examples include: Air Shows, balls, illuminations, STEM activities, Centennial Tulips, Winterlude, golf tournaments, dedications, Centennial coin recipients and merchandise.
      Your Air Force CAF Imagery (Military Operations, Military Community Life and Canadian Pride categories)
    Eligibility Open to all Canadians Must be CF One card holder
    Photo submissions 3 photos total.  These photos may also be submitted to the CAF Imagery categories. 3 photos total (any combination of the 3 categories).  These photos may also be submitted to the Your Air Force category.
    Photos are eligible if they have been submitted to a previous year’s CAF Imagery contest. Photos submitted to a previous year’s CAF Imagery contest are not eligible.
    Prizing 13 winners will have their photos printed in a Centennial Commemorative Calendar, receive a copy of this calendar and receive a winning prize. 3 winners (1 for each category) will receive a WestJet voucher for 2 round trip tickets (valid for travel from CAN to CAN, USA, Mexico, Caribbean).

  • How many photos can I submit? How many categories can I submit my photos to?
    For the Your Air Force category, each photographer may submit a max of 3 photos.  
    For the CAF Imagery categories (Military Operations, Military Community Life and Canadian Pride), each photographer may submit a max of 3 photos. (Can be any combination of categories – ex. 1 photo submitted to Military Community Life and 2 photos submitted to Military Operations).  
    The photographer may submit the same photos to the Your Air Force category and the CAF Imagery categories if they meet the categories’ descriptions and eligibilities. Ex. A photographer who submits 3 photos to the Your Air Force category, then submits 2 of these photos to the CAF Imagery categories because these photos apply to all category descriptions.
  • Can I submit the same photos to the CAF Imagery categories as the Your Air Force category?
    Yes.  Contestants must ensure that the photos comply with the description of each category they submit them to.
  • What are the size and quality requirements for the photos I submit?

  • When do my photos need to be taken?
    Photos do not need to be taken before or after a specific date.
  • Are photos taken using my phone eligible?
    Yes, photos taken using a mobile phone are eligible.  Please ensure they meet the size and quality requirements of the contest.
  • I want to submit a photo of myself, taken by someone else. How do I submit this photo?
    The photographer must fill out the entry form and submit the photo.  All photos must be taken by the photographer who submits them.
  • My photo is the wrong size, how do I submit it?
    You must resize your photo before submitting it.  There are a variety of options available online that will resize the file for you, but first ensure that the site you choose is safe for you to use.
  • My photo is not a JPEG file, how do I submit it?
    You must convert your photo to a JPEG file.  There are a variety of options available online that will convert the file for you, but first ensure that the site you choose is safe for you to use.
  • How do I title my photos?
    Before uploading your photo(s) to our submission page, ensure they have a title that represents the image.  Ex. ColdMorningintheArctic.jpeg.  When you upload your photo, you should see the title in the entry box.  Photos without titles will not be eligible for judging.
  • Can I see the other photo submissions?
    We do not provide access to the photo submissions.  The winning photos and certain photos from each category may be posted after the judging process is complete.
  • When will the winners be announced?
    Winners of the Your Air Force category will be announced in November-December.  Winners of the CAF Imagery Contest categories (Military Operations, Military Community Life and Canadian Pride) will be announced December-January.
  • I’ve made a mistake when I submitted my photos. How do I correct/edit it?
    Please email [email protected] with the date you submitted your photos and the issue you want to correct.
