The Kingston Military Family Resource Center (KMFRC) is excited to host a special event dedicated to supporting children (6-11) of military families.

  • Kingston Military Family Resource Centre

This engaging and supportive program will offer children ages 6-11 a unique opportunity to participate in creative coping skills and mindfulness activities designed specifically for their developmental needs. Through art-based and therapeutic experiences, children will be encouraged to express their emotions, connect with peers, and develop practical tools to manage stress and big feelings. The event aims to nurture emotional well-being while creating a safe, welcoming space where children feel understood and supported.

The Importance of Creative Coping Skills for Children
Creative coping skills play a vital role in helping children understand and regulate their emotions, especially for those navigating the unique challenges of military family life. Art, mindfulness, and expressive activities allow children to communicate feelings that may be difficult to put into words, promoting self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. By learning these skills early, children build a strong foundation for long-term emotional health, confidence, and adaptability. This event supports children in developing healthy coping strategies that empower them to face life’s changes with strength, creativity, and resilience.

We look forward to welcoming military families on March 10th, 2026, and hope that this event will be a transformative experience for all participants.

This activity is offered in English, but we’re here to help if language or any other barrier makes it hard to join. Let us know how we can support you.
