Building Resilience & Healthy Relationships Through Horses & Nature: A Workshop for Veterans & Caregivers

Join us for a Day in the Country!

Saturday, September 27, 2025 | 10:00 am – 4:30 pm | De Winton, Alberta

Escape to the peaceful countryside for a day of fun, connection, and healing, surrounded by nature and our incredible herd of horses. This workshop is designed for Canadian Armed Forces Veterans and their caregivers to experience the restorative power of nature and horses in a supportive, welcoming setting.

Facilitated by Foothills Wellness Collective, the day will include hands-on, nature-based activities that focus on building resilience, exploring the qualities of healthy relationships (including communication), and practicing mindfulness and emotional regulation.

Whether you're seeking to deepen connections with others or simply find a moment of tranquility, this experience offers the opportunity to recharge, reflect, and grow in a supportive environment.

Eligibility and Registration:
This workshop is open to veterans and their caregivers. A professional referral is required to confirm that the workshop would be beneficial to you. We kindly ask that referrals are submitted by August 15. For more information, please contact Grace at grace.geatros@calgarymfrc.ca.

Important Information for Participants:
Due to the nature of the activities and setting, attendees must be 18+ and comfortable being outdoors and around horses. All horse interaction in this workshop happens from the ground. Please note that some mobility is required, as the day will include walking on uneven terrain.

Come connect, heal, and thrive with us!

The Calgary MFRC is grateful to the Royal Canadian Legion Calgary Branches Poppy Fund for their support of this workshop.
