Day Camp - Swim Test

  • Important information - Swimming sessions
    Children in Camps 5-6 years old in the wading pool.  PFDs are mandatory if swimming in the large pool.

    Children in Camps 7 years and older swim in the large pool. The test is mandatory for all children except:

    1. The child has completed and passed the Swimmer Level 4 (or a higher level) since fall 2025.
    2. Please email proof to aquatiquevalcartier@cfmws.com
    3. The parent indicates that wearing a PFD is mandatory for swimming;
    4. The child requests not to take the test and states that they wish to wear a PFD

    Swim tests will take place during three time slots before the start of day camp.

    • Registration is mandatory in order to have your child evaluated before the start of day camp.icipate.

    You must reserve a time slot for your child swim test in order to part

    • Wednesday, June 3 – 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    • Friday, June 12 – 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, June 13 – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    To ensure that swimming activities run smoothly and to maximize pool time for each group,

    • No swimming tests will be held during the summer.
    • All swimming tests must be completed by the dates listed above.
  • Swim test registration
    1.    Go to the registration site BKK | Base Valcartier - Accès public (cfmws.com)
    2.    Click on Courses
    3.    Under : Children 6 to 12, click on Camps
    4.    Scroll down and click on : Test de Nage CAM2627031302WW
    5.    Select the desired date and time slot and complete the transaction to book the time slot.    

    6.     Reservation blocks are 15 minutes long.
    7.     You must reserve a place for each child taking the swim test.

     
  • Swim test description
    The test consists of performing three (3) skills recommended by the Supervision of aquatic activities for groups of children Guide.

    1.    Safe water entry
    2.    Swim in place - 60 seconds
            a.    Head must remain outside the water for the entire duration;
             b.    The swimmer must not touch the wall or the bottom at any time for the entire duration and during the transition to the swim.


    3.    Swim to a safe area - required distance of 25 meters
            a.    Swimmer may swim on stomach or back;
             b.    The swimmer must be able to breathe and remain in control of his/her movements;
             c.    The swimmer must remain in a horizontal (or quasi-horizontal) position;
             d.    The swimmer must complete the distance unassisted.
