Q and A - Day Camp Courcelette

Parents Information Evening

Date: Wednesday, JUNE 11, 2025, 6:30 p.m.

Hello dear parents of our future campers,

Like every year, Camp de jour Courcelette will be holding an information evening for parents who have registered their child(ren) at our day camp. The meeting will be held in person, at the 93 Building Community Center on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 6:30pm.

The purpose of the meeting? To explain how the camp works and answer any questions you may have. Several topics will be covered, such as arrivals/departures, a typical day's schedule, the equipment needed to spend a quality day, sanitary measures, camp sites, etc.

Can't find the answer to your question? Contact us at [email protected]

We hope to see many of you there!

Here are the most frequently asked questions about Courcelette day camp:

  • Where is the camp being offered
The camp takes place on two sites.

Arrivals and departures for all camps are at the Valcartier Community Centre.

Regular camps are held at the Valcartier Community Center for all age groups. We will have access to an outdoor tent at the back of the community center, to the three parks and the two schools and their parks located near the military base. This will enable us to disperse groups once the camp day has begun.

Specialized camps are held at Alexander-Wolf School. Once assembly is over, groups will walk to the school. Outside of specialty times, they'll also have access to nearby parks and facilities.
  • Is there priority registration?
For the year 2025, there is no priority registration. All eligible participants will be able to register as of March xx at 6:00 p.m.

If you are deployed on the same day as camp registration, you will be entitled to priority registration. Proof of deployment will be required.
  • My child's age group is full. What are my options?

You must register your child on the waiting list for the desired week, according to your child's age group, to be on the recall list if places become available or groups are added.

EX : Waiting list week 2 - 5-6 years old

  • What is the theme of the camp?

The overall theme of the camp is to be determine. The weekly themes will vary from one week to another to allow the children to live the whole theme.

  • Do you go on outing?

Week 9 (August 18 to 20) is a week of outings.

Each day, the children will go to a different place.

Here are the outings planned for 2025:

    - August 18: Éco-Parc des Etchemins (link to website) Éco-Parc des Etchemins: family aquatic activities.

    - August 19: Récréofun (link to website) Family fun center | Holidays | Groups | RécréOFUN

    - August 20: Baie de Beauport (Insert website link) Baie de Beauport | S'amuser

  • Will my child go to the pool?

    Yes,
Unless the weather does not permit swimming, the children normally go to the pool every other day
We use the outdoor pool which is heated.

  • Who are the swim tests for and what do they involve?

Please note that 5 and 6 year olds will automatically wear a PFD or go to the wading pool (without a PFD at this time).

To be exempted from the swim test, the child must have passed Swimmer 4 or higher.

Proof should be sent by e-mail to [email protected].

For pool periods and water outings (e.g. beach), we ask that children who do not pass the swim test recommended by the Association des camps du Québec, the Lifesaving Society and the Red Cross wear a flotation jacket (PFD).

For details of the swim test, please consult the Day Camp Swim Test page.

  • How do children move between sites?

The children travel in groups, on foot, and always supervised by animators, for activities at Vanier Park,  Garceau Park, Alexander-Wolff shcool, Dollard-des-Ormeaux school or the outdoor pool.

In addition, the average travel time is 5 to 8 minutes depending on the departure site. If transportation is required to a more distant site, we use our minibus or a school bus.

  • My child is 4 years old, can he/she participate in the camp?

If your child will be 5 years old before September 30, 2025, he or she may enroll in camps for 5-year-olds.

  • My child is over 12 years old, can he/she participate in the camp?

    Yes.
A CAM camp (camp aspiring monitor) is offered for 13 and 14 year-olds to train them to become animators in their own right).

  • What's the difference between Camp Courcelette and Camp Lions Juniors?
Courcelette Day Camp is the usual day camp with the regular or specialty camp formula, including daycare. This camp is offered at the community center between 6:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for children aged 5 to 12.

The Lions Juniors camp, on the other hand, is a more personalized camp offering specific full-day activities for children aged 9 and over, but does not include daycare. Most of these camps are held at the Sports Center.
