International Women's Day
It is imperative that we support, mentor and invest in women and girls to create the opportunities to have a lasting impact. That we give respect, donations, visibility, funding, knowledge, justice, voice, protection, equal pay, training, role models and time. Giving support can be calling out stereotypes, questioning biases and shining a light on women’s achievements. We can give a helping hand to support, to share, to hold during difficult times, to lift when doubt or oppression is present and to applaud women’s efforts to achieve equality.
How can we celebrate International Women’s Day?
- Wear purple, green or white. Purple represents justice and dignity, green symbolizes hope and growth, and white signifies purity and solidarity.
- Become a member of a book club that highlights female authors who write inspirational literature for women.
- Recognize the achievements of women in your workplace, family, within your circle of friends or in your community.
- Use social media to advocate for women's rights.
- Support women-owned businesses.
- Speak out against gender-based violence and for the rights to justice for victims. Victims of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) continue to be disproportionately women.
