Youth Fitness

Having fun while being active is the best way to encourage our kids to keep active.

Physical activity is crucial for youth development. Current recommendations suggest that youth should participate in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. In addition to aerobic activities such as running, dance or cycling, research increasingly indicates that regular participation in a youth strength-training program can offer observable health, fitness and performance benefits for children and adolescents.

PSP Community Recreation offers programming that helps our youth stay active and healthy.

Teen Weight and Cardio Room Course

This is a three-hour program that teaches teens ages 15-17 years old, how to use the weight room/ cardio room machines safely and appropriately. This course only covers cardio room machines and machines in the weight room and dumbbells modifications. It does not cover advanced movements or techniques. Teens who successfully complete this training will have the course added to their PSP Plan card within 1-2 business days after course completion. Teens do not automatically pass this course.  Teens must show respect, maturity and take this course seriously. Participation and use of the equipment is required.
