Ottawa-Gatineau Unit Briefings and Onsite Workshops

Invite a Health Promotion Specialist to deliver an onsite unit briefing or workshop.


Please note: Military units are prioritized with a minimum of 20 confirmed participants for onsite requests. (Smaller units may be accommodated.)

How to Request a Briefing or Onsite Workshop: 

  1. Choose a topic, date and time  
  2. Complete the request form below. 
  3. Confirm the minimum number of registered participants with the Health Promotion office 1 week prior to the workshop.   
  4. You will receive a confirmation email once the Health Promotion team is able to confirm your request.

Briefing descriptions

  • Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness
    In this session, we will introduce the Mental Health Continuum and provide you with tips to support your Mental Health. We will also explore myths around suicide, identify potential warning signs and learn how to connect someone with available resources in the CAF and in your community.

  • Top Tips for Managing Stress
    Stress is here to stay, but how we manage it can make a huge difference in our physical and mental health. In this briefing learn concrete ways to keep distress at bay.

  • Essential Nutrition
    Let’s get back to basics! Take a closer look at Canada Food Guide's recommendations for healthy eating habits, and how making small changes can impact mental and physical health.

  • Fueling for Exercise
    This briefing will provide you with evidence-based nutritional information to help you choose the right amount and type of fluid and food, as well as the timing to help you meet your energy requirements. Since you're investing time in exercising, it's important to make sure you're fueling properly to hit your goals-- whether that is training for specific athletic events, preparing to deploy, or maintaining an active lifestyle.

  • Addictions Awareness
    Take a closer look at a variety of issues related to alcohol, other drugs, gambling and gaming. Topics discussed include: risk factors for addiction, recognizing warning signs, tips for responsible drinking, gambling and gaming to minimize long term health risks, and resources available in the CAF and in your community.

  • Health Promotion Program Overview
    An overview of available Health Promotion (HP) programs, campaigns, and upcoming initiatives. This briefing will provide you with a greater understanding of HP and of how to engage your local HP team to foster a culture of health and wellbeing within your unit.

  • Effective Communication in the Workplace
    A short skill-building workshop to help deal with conflict and improve communication in personal relationships. We’ll be discussing where conflict comes from and how to use it as an opportunity to build trust and stronger relationships by using effective communication skills when discussing difficult issues.
