Functional Fitness Program for CAF members

A new 8-week Functional Fitness training program will begin the week of January 26 and end the week of March 23. Note: There will be a break during March Break – more details to follow.

The program will conclude with an optional local competition in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday March 31st , held at NDHQ, Carling Campus.

What is Functional Fitness?

Functional fitness is a training method that combines strength, endurance, agility, and coordination through varied movements that mimic real-life physical tasks. This sport will be officially added to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) sports program, and this initiative aims to prepare military members for upcoming regional and national competitions.

Who is it for?

We are looking for motivated athletes who want to improve with the goal of competing within the next two years. The program is also open to members who wish to train for recreational purposes, depending on space availability. No prerequisites – beginners and advanced athletes are welcome.

Led by Qualified Instructors

Sessions will be led by qualified military personnel with expertise in functional fitness instruction, as well as members of the PSP team. You’ll be in good hands to progress safely and effectively in this sport.

Session schedule and locations:

  • Mondays 12:00 – 13:00: Startop
  • Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:00: NDHQ, Carling Campus (FORCE room)
  • Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:00: 455 Blvd de la Carrière
