Suicide Awareness Training

Suicide Awareness Training is designed to promote awareness and skill-building, to lessen the incidence of mental health injuries including suicide by learning how to intervene and help someone having thoughts of suicide, and to help them get the help that they need. (MITE code)

Topics covered:

  • Review the Mental Health Continuum
  • The impact of Suicide
  • How to recognize the warning signs of a person in distress 
  • Describe the appropriate actions one should take when presented the warning signs
  • How to intervene using effective communication skills and the ACE model
  • Help someone having thought of suicide get the resources that they need

Eligibility
All Strengthening the Forces webinars, programs and workshops are open to military personnel (Reg and Res Force) and their families (18+ years of age). DND and NPF civilian employees are welcome to participate. Programs are free of charge, but are subject to cancellation or postponement if registration minimum is not reached.
