Babysitting Basics

Learn how to become a responsible babysitter through this St. John’s Ambulance course that teaches youth the basic skills for providing care to children. The course emphasizes safety rules, responding to emergencies and developing leadership skills. The babysitting course content includes:

  • Becoming a babysitter
  • Basic first aid
  • Healthy meals
  • Safe play
  • Changing diapers
  • Bedtime routines
  •  Handling emergencies

In addition, participants will learn decision-making skills for managing child behaviours and illnesses, as well as understanding what to ask and consider when caring for a child with disabilities.

Participants will receive a notebook, backpack and a first aid kit upon completion of the course. 

 

Date: Saturday, February 28

Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Location: MFRC

Cost: $30 per participant. Fee covers the cost of program supplies.

Open to: youth ages 11 – 15 years from CAF and Veteran families, and Families of the Fallen
