Tutoring Subsidy

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) children and youth may face school-related challenges, including those tied to military life, such as frequent moves or parental absences, as well as common issues like special needs or extended absences due to illness. 

To support their K-12 education, the Calgary MFRC offers a Tutoring Subsidy for children of currently serving CAF members, helping them achieve their full potential in the classroom.

Eligibility:

  • CAF children/youth between the ages of 6 years and 17 years (Kindergarten to Grade 12) 
  • Criteria include at least one of the following: 
    • Grades under 70% in a specific subject  
    • Enrolled in an IPP 
    • Letter from current teacher indicating need 
    • Extended absence from school due to illness 
    • Special Needs

Coverage Details:

Reimbursement could be up to $800/child/school year. Amount is based on household income and number of residents in the home. 

How to Access the Subsidy:

Families must apply at the beginning of each school year and be approved by the Family Support Services Coordinator and the Executive Director. 

Support Our Troops Tutoring Reimbursement Program

Additional tutoring support is available through the Support Our Troops Tutoring Reimbursement Program, which is separate from Calgary MFRC’s services.
