Winnipeg MFRC Child Care Centre

For three months to 12 years old

The Winnipeg MFRC Child Care Centre is a fully funded and provincially licensed facility, operating in strict compliance with all Manitoba regulations. This includes maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios and adhering to capacity guidelines to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

We believe every child deserves to be treated with respect and care in a secure, nurturing, and stimulating setting. Our inclusive, high-quality programming supports each child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.

We recognise and support the diverse needs of families by offering full-time care, as well as specialised support for children with unique challenges. More than just a child care facility, our Centre serves as a collaborative resource and support system for children, families, and staff—fostering a strong, connected community.

About

  • Goals
    • To support families and provide quality care for children
    • To respect each child for their own unique qualities
    • To build positive self-concepts and individual strengths
    • To establish and maintain a safe, healthy environment
    • To recognise that families have different childcare needs and accommodate those needs to the best of our ability
    • To offer a stimulating and inclusive program that fosters the development of the whole child
  • Curriculum

We provide child-centred, family-oriented childcare programs guided by an emergent and play-based curriculum. Our approach is developmental, nurturing each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth – recognising that these areas are inter-connected and mutually reinforcing.

We foster secure relationships between children and staff, and among children, ensuring each child receives individualised attention in a safe, home-like environment, where they can explore and learn at their own pace.

Our programs celebrate the richness of our diverse, inclusive community. Children engage with materials and activities from around the world, and every child, regardless of ability or challenge, is supported to develop at their individual levels, in a nurturing, respectful space.

    What is an emergent curriculum?
It offers both planned activities and spontaneous experiences emerging from children’s own interests and ideas. It ensures that children have input into how they spend their day, fostering independence and engagement.

    What is a play-based curriculum?
It nurtures children’s learning and development through play. It is designed to create fun, fond memories through shared experiences with peers of varying ages, all within a safe and stimulating environment. Children enjoy long, uninterrupted playtime that helps them learn and reach their full potential. Cooperative play strengthens their ability to self-regulate and grow across all areas of development – each at their own unique pace.
