Board Recruitment

You can make a difference in Winnipeg’s Military Community.

The Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is a registered non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board consists of between 7 to 12 members with at least 51% being civilian family members of full-time serving CF members. New members can be appointed to the board throughout the year to fill vacancies and will be officially elected by the community at the Annual General Meeting.

Why Join The Board?

  • Gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a not-for-profit Board of Directors
  • Chance to improve your skills in administration, leadership, diplomacy, public speaking, financial management, critical thought processes, meeting management and teamwork
  • Opportunities to attend professional development workshops
  • Have an impact on the Winnipeg military community - support something you believe in!

Volunteering for the Winnipeg MFRC Board of Directors gives me an opportunity to give back to the military community by using the skills and experience that I’ve gained through both my professional life and personal life as a military spouse who has moved multiple times.  As a non-profit organization, the MFRC relies on a volunteer Board of Directors to govern the finances, policies, and strategic direction of the centre.  Being on the board allows me to have a role in building and enhancing the programs and services that we provide, act as a voice for the military community, and try to make a positive contribution to the organization and the community.

- Katy Wedgwood, Past Winnipeg MFRC Board Chairperson
