Lifesaving Instructor
Share your experience and passion for lifesaving by becoming a Lifesaving Instructor. You'll train future rescuers in first aid, CPR, lifesaving techniques and skills. The Lifesaving Instructor can teach the following certificates: Young Rescuer (Initiate, Advanced, Expert), Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Lifesaving Fitness, Certificate of Distinction, and many others.

The programs are free of charge thanks to financial assistance from the Quebec government. This assistance began in 2022 and is renewed again this year in 2023. This assistance enables us to cover the costs of courses and training manuals. Depending on the course, other fees may be required if they are not included in the financial assistance conditions.

COMBINED - Swimming Instructor/Lifesaving Instructor
During a 40-hour leadership training course, the participant will be certified as a Lifesaving Society Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor. He or she will then be able to offer the full range of the following training programs: Young Lifesaver (Initiate, Advanced, Expert), Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and all levels of the Lifesaving program. First Aid Instructor (16h)
The Valcartier Community Recreation will be hosting a First Aid Instructor training course. In a hybrid format including distance learning sessions and a single face-to-face session, you will learn the basics of first aid teaching and have the opportunity to perfect your current knowledge. This certification then enables you to offer a variety of first aid training courses, including CPR levels A, B and C, first aid (8h) and general first aid (16h).

Recertification - Lifesaving Instructor and First Aid Instructor
Are you a lifesaving instructor whose certification has expired or is about to expire? The "Lifesaving Instructor" requalification program will keep you up to date and validate your skills so that you can continue to teach lifesaving programs such as Bronze levels.
**IMPORTANT** Each Lifesaving instructor registering for the MS requalification is responsible for having the new Guide to Certificates - Bronze Levels 2020 or for obtaining it via the Lifesaving Society's Instructor Order Form before attending his or her requalification. This guide will be used during activities and is mandatory.
The "First Aid Instructor" requalification section will bring you up to date on the Emergency Care programs, as well as validating your first aid skills.
The new requalification consists of three sections:

Swim Instructor + Common Core
(Summer)- - $130 *Common core must have been completed. N.B. Requalifications are not included in grants for instructor and lifeguard training.
Prerequisites :
The certificate(s) to be requalified must be no more than 2 years old*.
Lifesaving Instructor: requalification: Bronze Cross or current National Lifeguard.
Requalification National Lifeguard: Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard up to date.
First Aid Instructor requalification: FAI certificate no more than 2 years old.
Lifesaving Instrutor requalification: Bronze Cross or current National Lifeguard.
Fist Aid Instructor requalification: National Lifeguard or having given at least one MPS in the last two years **.
*An instructor whose certification is more than 4 years old must contact the Lifesaving Society to be mentored for a return to leadership.
**Instructors who do not have a current national lifeguard certification and who have not offered any MTPs must contact the Lifesaving Society to be mentored for a validation of their knowledge and skills.
