2024 Program
Our animation team looks forward to welcoming you to the Saint-Jean Garrison to offer a diverse, enriching and bilingual program of activities in both French and English.
SUMMER 2024 theme: Storytelling!
June 24 to August 16, 2024
Since our camps were so popular last year, we are once again offering the following camps;
- Regular day camp
- Day camp specializing in sports and outdoor activities
- Day camp specializing in artistic and cultural activities
The regular day camp offers children aged 5 to 12 a safe, stimulating environment in which to have fun and develop new skills all summer long. We offer a diverse program of activities in both French and English. Children are separated by age group and stay with their counselor all week long. They'll discover new interests, stimulating personal growth and ensuring positive socialization and energy. Children needing accompanying adults are welcome at this camp, where we can place them with a support worker.
Our sports and outdoor day camp offers children aged 8 to 12 a wide range of sports and outdoor activities. With the help of our outdoor and sports specialists, they'll have the chance to try out many activities, including climbing, canoeing, kayaking, camp life, badminton, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, deck field hockey, tennis, pickleball and baseball.
The day camp specializing in artistic and cultural activities offers children aged 8 to 12 a wide range of activities to satisfy their need to create and express themselves. Through arts and crafts, visual arts, music, drama, dance, literary arts, media arts and culinary activities, youngsters will tap into their individual and collective creativity.
Although specialized camps offer activities related to specific fields of interest, children at all camps will occasionally be involved in sports and artistic activities. Our mission is to offer children a comprehensive, enriching and entertaining recreational experience in a safe environment.
Our three day camps use the garrison's indoor and outdoor facilities, including several craft rooms, a kitchen, an outdoor swimming pool with daily swim time, and an auditorium. They also have access to several gymnasiums, including one with a climbing wall, running tracks and all the equipment needed to practice almost any sport.
A special themed activity and a weekly outing are planned and included in the cost of each camp.
OUTINGS AND SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Some weeks we'll go on outings outside the garrison, and other weeks we'll have special activities at the garrison. Special activities and outings are included in the camp fee.

SWIMMING POOL
A swimming period is scheduled every day in the afternoon. For operational and military training reasons, this period may occasionally be moved to the morning or cancelled. All children must take a swim test on their first swim. We will then determine whether they will need to swim with a PFD or buoyancy belt (provided on site). Our qualified lifeguards ensure your children's safety and are trained to the highest standards.
CAMP DURATION
Day Camp is offered weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, from Monday, June 24 to Friday, August 16, 2024 inclusively. Structured and animated activities take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. We therefore ask parents to drop off their children no later than 8:30 a.m. and not to pick them up before 4 p.m. (unless there are exceptions, and always by notifying the day camp team). Children may arrive as early as 7 a.m. and leave no later than 5:30 p.m.
Please note that we are open on Quebec's national holiday (June 24) and Canada Day (July 1er ).
WHO IS IT FOR?
The camp is offered in priority to military and Defense employees (Public Service and Non-Public Funds). Priority registration is available on Friday, April 5, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday morning, April 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration can be done online via our website or in person at the sports center reception desk (Local M-200, in the green sector of the Mega). Afternoon registration will take place on April 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for all citizens.
Children aged 5 to 12* are admitted to our regular day camp. The two specialized camps are open to unaccompanied children aged 8 to 12 only.
*Children aged 4 must have completed 4-year-old kindergarten in order to be registered for day camp.
Please note that age is determined as of September 30, 2024.
Example: My child will be 5 years old on September 30, 2024, but has never attended school (Kindergarten 4 or Kindergarten); he or she will not be able to participate in day camp activities.
My child will be 5 years old after September 30, 2024, but attended kindergarten for 4 years in the 2023-2024 school year; he will be able to participate in day camp activities only if he is potty-trained, no longer needs a nap and follows well in a group setting.
WHERE?
We are located on the Saint-Jean Garrison in the Club Iberville premises (Building B-8).
Morning reception and evening departure will take place at this building or on its grassy grounds.
How to get there: As you pass the gatehouse, go around the Mega building (to the right or left) and around to the rear. You'll see the day camp building, which is partly surrounded by cedar hedges. This building faces the outdoor pool and is adjacent to the fenced-in baseball field.
OUR ANIMATION TEAM
Our animators are trained to the highest standards in the Quebec day camp industry. Our staff follow a comprehensive training program to ensure your children's safety and provide quality entertainment. All our animators are also CPR trained and HIGH-FIVE certified. A supervisor will be on site all summer long. A team of youth counsellors offers the accompaniment program (inclusion support). The PSP Recreation Department oversees, manages and operates the day camp without the help of a contractor.
OUR AGE GROUPS AND RATIOS
Age of children | Ratio of counselors to children in day camp | Ratio of counselors or chaperones to children on outings |
4-5-6 years old | 1 counselor for 10 children | 1 counselor for 7 children |
7-8 years old | 1 counselor for 12 children | 1 counselor for 8 children |

On our weekly outings, we add extra staff to ensure your children's safety. We follow ACQ (Association des camps du Québec) standards, with which we are certified. You may be asked to join our team on an outing to increase supervision. The role of parent volunteers will be explained at the parent meeting.
