My Choice Summer Camp Grant 2024
With the support of True Patriot Love the Mainland BC MFRC will again offer the “My Choice” Camp Grant in 2024. This grant offers military children who live in Mainland BC, the opportunity to discover, pursue adventure, and make lasting memories at a Summer camp of their choice.
Due to the popularity and scale of this grant, this year changes have been made to the receipt submission dates and the way in which we administered the grant cheques, so please read the details below carefully.
Eligibility
The grant is open to children aged 5-16 of CAF Reserve (all classes) and Regular force members who reside in Mainland BC (anywhere in the province excluding Vancouver Island).
The CAF member must be the parent or legal guardian of the child.
More than one child may apply per family. A new application must be submitted for each child as each application will be considered separately.
Funding
Mainland BC MFRC will reimburse camp fees up to $200 per child. Children may use the grant to attend either a summer day or overnight camp of their choice.
If your child chooses to attend a day camp that costs less than $200, you can submit additional day camp receipts to use all of the grant.
Priority will be given to those who have not previously received a “My Choice” Summer Camp Grant.
Application Process
Complete a separate application form for each child, if applying for more than one child.
As part of the application process, each child will be required to provide a creative submission explaining "Which type of camp they would like to use a ‘My Choice’ Summer Camp Grant for” or “Why they would like to be awarded a ‘My Choice’ Summer Camp Grant" it is okay if they do not know what type of camp they would like to go to this year, their creative submission should explain what their favorite hobbies are as that might help them decide what type of camp they would like to attend.
Please note, their creative submission choice is not set in stone, as we totally understand that young people can change their minds!
Creative Submissions can either be:
- A video (phone-recorded is perfect and easily sent; 2-minutes maximum).
- A piece of writing (hand-written or typed; maximum 200 words).
- A piece of art (using any medium of choice).
Creative submissions must be e-mailed separately to [email protected] with the child’s name and “Creative Submission” in the subject line no later than May 3rd, 2024. The application is not considered complete until the creative submission is received.
All successful grant applicants will be informed by email mid May.
