If you would like to have a voice in the governance of your MFRC and/or if you are considering standing for election to the MFRC Board of Directors, you first need to become a member of the Society. (Note Society membership is not a condition of accessing MFRC services; however, it is a necessary for governance purposes.)

Part 2: Society Membership

Classes of Membership

2.1 There are three classes of Members:

a. CAF Members. Members who qualify as a CAF Member, or as a CAF Family Member, and who have chosen to apply to become a Member of the Society;

b. Veteran Members. Members who qualify as a Veteran, or as a Veteran Family Member, and who have chosen to apply to become a Member of the Society; and

c. Associate Members. Are persons who have been invited by the Board to stand for election to the Board, or who have been appointed by the Board to fill a vacancy.

Qualifications for Membership

2.2 All Members must:

a. live/work in the Mainland BC Military Family Resource Centre catchment area; and

b. be 18 years of age or older.

2.3 Mainland BC Military Family Resource Centre Society Staff and Contractors.

a. An employee or contractor of the Society may be a Member of the Society during their term of employment, but will not be eligible to vote in any general meetings.

b. Voting eligibility will be reinstated one year after ceasing their employment with the Society.


Applying for Membership

2.4 Any person qualified for membership may apply to be a Member.

2.5 The Board will establish the membership process.

2.6 The Members will approve the process and any subsequent changes with an ordinary resolution.

2.7 A person may apply to the Board for membership in the Society, and the person becomes a Member on the Board’s acceptance of the application.

Obligations of Membership

2.8 All Members must:

a. uphold the Society constitution and comply with these Bylaws; and

b. agree to be bound by the decisions of the Society or the Board that are made in accordance with the constitution and the Bylaws.

Benefits of Membership

2.9 All Members are entitled to the following privileges:

a. Members are entitled to hold office; and

b. Vote at all general meetings of the Society.
