Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing a mental health crisis, or a worsening of their mental health.
MHFA for the Veteran Community is tailored to address the needs of Veterans and the people who care for, and about them, such as veterans themselves, former RCMP members, family members, friends, relatives, health professionals, providers of Veteran services, volunteers, and other caring community members.
This one-day workshop does not train people to become counsellors or therapists, nor is it a form of treatment. It is customized specifically to the military and veteran community and offered to medically releasing military members, veterans, their families, and caregivers. Others in the community are welcome to participate if space allows. All attendees must be 18 years of age or older.
Participant Requirements: As this is a virtual course, participants must have access to a reliable computer, internet connection, and a private space where they can fully engage in the training. If more than one person from the same household is participating, each individual must register separately and attend using their own computer and workspace.
Space is limited for this event, so register early! For questions and more information, please email or call our Veteran Family Program Coordinator at 613-541-5010 ext. 271-4950.
Participants must attend the course in full to receive a certificate.
