Health Care
Prior to arriving
- Ask if your present physician(s) has a colleague in Nova Scotia, then request a direct referral.
- Update/obtain copies of all immunizations, lab work, annual exams, prescription refills, and dental work.
Once you arrive
- Request your Nova Scotia Health Card (MSI card) by phone only: 902-496-7008 or toll-free 1-800-563-8880. Identify yourself as a military family to avoid the 3-month delay.
- Virtual Health Care Program - Free access for all Canadian military families to Maple virtual health care. Access is 24/7 at this time. CFOne card number in all family members’ names is required. If you need to see a doctor before your CFOne card arrives, contact the Family Information Line: 1-800-866-4546 to get an access code.
- Register with both doctor waitlists:
- Nova Scotia doctor waitlist or call 811, and
- Military Family Doctor Network - Primacy/Calian Health clinics waitlist for Halifax military families
