Child and Youth Mental Health
Child and Youth Mental Health is a service offered in British Columbia through the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Child and Youth Mental Health provide assessment and a wide range of community-based specialized mental health services. Some of the mental disorders that are treated include; anxiety disorder, conduct disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, any depressive disorder, substance abuse, pervasive developmental disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, Tourette's disorder, bipolar disorder and any eating disorder.

Project Alive

Project Alive provides urgent assessment and support for youth, under the age of 19, at high risk for suicide. This service is confidential and parents will only be involved with youth's permission. Project Alive workers can respond to youth within 3 - 5 days.  Operates Mon.- Fri. 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. 

British Columbia Psychological Association
BCPA provides a list of practicing psychologist in British Columbia. CAF Families who have the PSHCP have access to extended benefits to cover psychologist’s services. A Psychologist can often be a good option while waiting for public mental health services. Go to the website above to find a psychologist in your area. Please note that you will need a doctor's referral to have the cost of a psychologist covered by your extended health care.

The Member Assistance Program www.forces.gc.ca/assistance (MAP) offers confidential, voluntary, short term counselling to assist with resolving many common stresses associated with home and in the work place. 

Pacific Centre Family Services Association
Pacific Centre Family Services Association offers a variety of counselling and support programs such as email youth counselling, face to face counselling for youth, counselling for families, and a sexual abuse intervention program. Anxiety BC/Anxiety Canada
Anxiety BC provides an understanding of anxiety and strategies to manage anxiety. Their new toolkit is useful for parents across the country. “Helping Your Anxious Child or Teen” provides clear, concise explanations and approaches to help your child and family.

Family Smart provides children and their families support, education, advocacy and navigation of services for children’s mental health.
 
Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre
The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre provides support from a professional or parent peer support worker, options on for support and treatment in British Columbia, how to find services and navigate the system, and a variety of information and resources for families.
