The City is the sunshine capital of Canada, with over 2,300 hours of sun annually. It has a continental-type climate, enjoying four distinct seasons. There are significant temperature variations through the year generally ranging from highs of +35 degrees Celsius to lows of -40 degrees Celsius. Its location in the centre of the continent means that the city benefits from being in North America central time zone.

Winnipeg is the birthplace of the iconic children’s character Winnie the Pooh. The beloved bear was named after the city by its creator, A.A. Milne, who was stationed in Winnipeg during World War I.
