Become a Volunteer

Volunteer

At the MFRC, volunteers play a very important role in the success of all our programs. From special events to child care to workshop facilitators to administrative support, volunteers are the heart of everything we do at the MFRC. Volunteers share their time and talents with us, and find the rewards and opportunities are plentiful.

As a volunteer, you can learn new skills, meet new people, be part of a great team and make new friends, explore a new career, make a difference and have fun! You will get work experience, on-the-job-training, flexible hours, interesting workshops, recognition, and a fun environment!

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of 10 - 12 full voting members, all volunteers, and the majority must be military spouses. This ensures programming at our centre reflects the needs of our community. They meet once per month to discuss current and ongoing issues relating to the MFRC.

Youth Volunteers

Youth volunteers are also welcome, and play an active role in many of our programs. Some of these include the summer youth camps, "Kidventures", and the Youth Advisory Council. This council provides young people (aged 12 and older) with the chance to work on special events for the youth of our community. This is a great opportunity to gain life and work experience skills.

All volunteers are screened, trained, and provided with an orientation session. For more information, please give us a call at 833-2500 local 4500.

Philosophy of Involvement

The Winnipeg MFRC actively encourages volunteers from our community to work together with our staff to provide military families with programs and services to promote health, education and social well-being. Volunteers play an important role in all of our programs and events. From special events to child care to workshop facilitators to administrative support, volunteers are the heart of everything we do at the Centre, sharing their time and talents with our community.
