Youth in the Military Family

In the spirit of the month of the military child, the mental health team at MFS-NCR want to take this opportunity to recognize the valuable members of our community. While the military lifestyle can bring forth rich experiences in terms of self-growth and resilience, it is important to recognize that the lifestyle comes with its challenges. We want the military community to know that the mental health team provides a safe space for youth to have a voice as they navigate the military lifestyle and explore their needs.

We can help youth with the following (These are examples, and not limited to the list):

  • Coping with Stress and/or Anxiety
  • Coping with Depression
  • Difficulties with adjusting to a new community
  • Navigating the changes related to military lifestyle
  • Exploring separation and reunification
  • Making new friends (social connection)
  • Self-exploration through self-esteem
  • Exploring identity and sexual orientation
  • Parenting and family support
  • And many more

Our team of Family Counsellors provide short-term trauma informed and strength based approaches. For additional information, please reach out to the mental health inbox.

Our team of program specialists offer various resources, programs and supports tailored to youth and families that acknowledge the challenges and strengths of the military lifestyle.
