Military & General Public Fitness Classes

Unit PT

This is a cardio/strength mixed class with minimal equipment and minimal rest.  Focus on body weight exercises, quick transitions and easy fundamental exercises that do not take a lot of time to explain how they are done. This is a high intensity group fitness class.

Strength & Conditioning

An instructor led class accommodating all strength and fitness levels.  The first half of the workout focuses on muscular strength via compound lifts such as squats, bench press and deadlifts.  The second half of the workout focuses on muscular and cardiovasculor endurance through various MetCons (ie Circuits, HIIT, AMRAPS).

The class is open to active the military and general public with a PSP Plan Membership.  Drop in fees apply to non-members.  All non-military participants must complete a Par-Q to participate in the classes.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 1200 to1300

Military Lane Swim

Lane Swim open to military members and DND and NPF employees with a PSP Plan Membership. 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 1145 - 1300.

Practice FORCE Test

The practice FORCE test is held the first Thursday of each month from 0800 to 0900 on the right hand side of the gymnasium at the Fitness & Sports Centre.

Yoga

  • Military/DND/NPF Yoga takes place at the Fitness & Sports Centre every Tuesday in the multi-purpose room from 0730 to 0830.
  • Contact the Community Recreation Centre for available classes for the general public at 902-765-1494 extension 568-5341.

Mobility

Military/DND/NPF Mobility takes place in the multi-purpose room as follows:

  • Tuesdays 1200 to 1300
  • Thursdays 0730 to 0830

Spin

Military/DND/NPF Spin classes take place every Tuesday from 0730 to 0830.

Enduro Fit

Go the distance mixing running intervals with simple effective strength exercises to build stamina and full-body strength.

Wednesdays 1400-1500
