Greenwood Amateur Radio Club

Morse code was used by railroads and news stations. Many operators had their own style. Often operators could recognize the sender by the speed and pace there were sending their code. Some were called "ham-fisted operators". That is where the term "hams" came from. Today the club uses voice, typing and digital communication. The Greenwood Ametuer Radio Club uses the same method to communicate.  The club use it as a hobby and as a method of helping our friends and community.

What We Do

  • The club participates in nets (networks) to check in with friends all over the place.
  • We also support regional emergency measures organizations (REMO) by providing a back-up means of radio communications when required.
  • Some members also belong to CAN WARN and supply local weather information to the Canadian Weather Bureau in Dartmouth as required.
