The Imagination Library is a literacy program to help military families build connections through reading together.
Reading regularly with babies and throughout those first five years is crucial to a child’s development. By participating in the Imagination Library, you can enhance your child’s resiliency to face the challenges of the military lifestyle. There are a lot of great reasons to read with children: an improved quality of life, more success at school and it brings families closer together.
Do you have a new baby? Military families with a baby born the past 12 months to a serving regular force member or class B/C reservist at CFB Esquimalt are eligible to register at the MFRC for the Imagination Library program.
How the program started
In 2010, members of the community fundraised to create The Homecoming Statue in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Surplus funds were donated to the MFRC to start a program for families.
How it works
Each month a child that is a part of the Imagination Library will receive a free, high quality age-appropriate book in the mail from birth to the age of five.
Who can register
Families with babies born to serving regular force members and class B/C reservists at CFB Esquimalt are eligible to register. Please note that you can register your child up to one year from the date of birth. Registration is limited to one child per family.
