About Cold Lake

4 Wing Canadian Armed Forces Base is in Cold Lake, Alberta located just 170 kilometres north of Lloydminster, and 300 kilometres north-east of Edmonton.

Base operations include two operational CF-18 Squadrons and two training squadrons, including Phase IV of NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC), and numerous premier support units, make 4 Wing Canada's largest and busiest fighter wing.

Exercises and Operations

Due to 4 Wing’s vast array of support facilities and amenities, Cold Lake conducts several exercises including the annual Maple Flag Exercise, which draws international participation and continues to expand each year.
