Collecting your personal information
Personal information is collected for the purpose of providing employment support services to spouses/partners of military members and veterans. The Spousal Employment Supports Program is administered by the Military Family Services Program (MFS) / Veteran Family Program (VPF) of the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) under the authority of the National Defence Act.
Why we need your personal information
The Spousal Employment Supports Program may use your personal information to communicate with you, help you connect with employers to find a job, provide advice, make referrals, manage your participation in training workshops, and promote services and resources that may be of interest to you.
Personal information may also be anonymized and aggregated for program monitoring, evaluation, reporting and marketing purposes.
Participation in the Spousal Employment Supports Program is voluntary. Refusal to provide personal information may impact your access to certain services or activities.
Sharing your information
The Spousal Employment Supports Program collaborates with the following third-party partners to facilitate the delivery of services and activities.
- The Military Spousal Employment Network (MSEN) is an online job bank that is managed by vFairs LLC , a third-party located in the USA. Personal information is collected directly by vFairs when you create an account. Your personal information is used to manage your account, apply to jobs, communicate with potential employers, and to administer virtual career fairs, networking events, and webinars. - CareerCOACH+ is a virtual career counselling service that is provided by CareerJoy, a third-party located in Canada. Personal information is collected directly by CareerJoy when you register for the service. Your personal information is used to verify your eligibility, manage your account, and provide career transition and development counselling. For CareerJoy’s Privacy Policy, click here.
- Employment training and workshops are administered by the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC). Event registration is managed by MFS via EventBrite, a web-based event management software. Personal information is collected and shared with the Trenton MFRC so they can give you access to the virtual training platforms.
With your consent, the Spousal Employment Supports Program may share your contact information with other CFMWS or MFRC staff for making referrals or coordinating the provision of other support services that may be of benefit to you.
Protecting your privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act as described in personal information bank (PIB) Military Family Services Program / Veteran Family Program - CFMWS PPU 825.
Personal information may be processed by cloud-based information technology systems provided by Microsoft and other third parties located in Canada, including Survey Monkey. CFMWS implements robust cybersecurity measures in order to safeguard its data and systems, however there is a residual risk associated with storing and processing data in the cloud. Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice or as required by law.
Under the Act, you have the right of access to and correction of your personal information. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
