PSP Short-Term Lodging

PSP Military Housing and the Chaplain Services, under the auspices of the Commander of CFSG(O-G), have partnered to provide the National Capital Region (NCR) with Short-term Lodging services.

Purpose of Short-Term Lodging

The intent of the program is to provide temporary accommodations on a priority basis, to support extenuating needs from CAF members. Four (4) fully furnished bungalow units are reserved for this program.

Request for Short-term Lodging can be sent to PSP Military Housing (PSPMH) by email during regular business hours (pspmh@cfmws.com) with at least 48-hours notice.

After-hours requests for immediate needs can be directed to the Duty Chaplain through the Military Police dispatch at (613) 820-0123.

The maximum stay, upon initial assessment and referral by the PSPMH and/or CFSG (O-G) Chaplains is seven (7) nights. Should a longer period be required, requests for an extension are to be sent to PSPMH with at least 48-hours notice.

Occupancy Priority Levels

Priority levels have been established for the use of this program for situations such as housing displacement, medical appointments, imposed restrictions and visitation.

The four priority levels are as follows:

  • Priority One
Current Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member and/or their families who are posted to and reside in the NCR.
    • A sudden, unexpected, and catastrophic event such as, but not limited to, circumstances involving a fire, flood, or other “act of god”; a medical emergency/situation; or any other such critical requirement which can be met within the limitations of this service.

Costs related to Priority One situations will be $65.00/night plus applicable taxes.

  • Priority Two
Current CAF member and/or their families who are posted to and reside outside the NCR (OR) those in the NCR who require temporary relocation due to complex scenarios.
    • A medical service within the NCR requiring accommodation for the purpose of visiting and/or to provide care and support; temporary housing required to support complex family environments.

Costs related to Priority Two situations will be $65/night plus applicable taxes. Requests for financial support may be made to the PSPMH.

  • Priority Three

Current IR and/or CAF families experiencing separation

    • CAF families experiencing separation related to IR or custody arrangements where accommodation within the NCR is required for the purpose of visitation.

Costs related to Priority Three situations will be $65/night plus applicable taxes.

  • Non-Priority Requests

Given availability and subject to bumping rights, non-priority requests can be made for immediate needs at a cost of $110.00/night plus applicable taxes.

Bumping rights apply in situations where a short-term lodging unit is not available for a higher priority booking. In such cases, the lower priority booking will be required to vacate the unit, in order to accommodate the higher priority booking.

NOTE: Short-term Lodging is not meant to provide protective housing in situations of intimate partner violence, as the security and safety of clients cannot be guaranteed. All such requests will be referred to shelters/services provided by qualified organizations within the NCR.
