About the Active Kit Initiative
The Active Kit is a workplace wellness initiative developed by the CFSG(O-G) PSP Health Promotion team to support Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members in incorporating simple movement breaks into their work shift, helping to promote both physical and mental well-being.
While everyone is encouraged to use the digital guide, eligible CAF sections and units may also receive a pre-assembled Active Kit containing equipment featured throughout the guide.
Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, taking the workplace environment into consideration to ensure the resource aligns with the needs of the section or unit. Please note that Active Kits are reserved for CAF members.
Leadership teams interested in bringing the initiative to their workplace can contact PSP Health Promotion at HealthPromotionNCR@cfmws.com to discuss eligibility and workplace needs. -
Build Your Own Active Kit
Not eligible for a pre-assembled Active Kit? No problem! You may already have some of the equipment needed to get started, and most items can be easily found wherever basic exercise equipment is sold.
If you already have resistance bands, they can be used for most of the exercises in the guide. Although closed-loop bands are featured throughout the guide, many types of resistance bands will work. Simply ensure the resistance level is appropriate for your fitness level and comfort.
To encourage regular movement breaks, keep your equipment in sight, and save or print the guide for quick access to movement ideas that can help break up periods of inactivity.1. Long resistance band loops
- 15-35 lb
- 25-65 lb
2. Mini resistance band loops
- Light
- Medium
No mini band loop? Try tying the ends of a regular resistance band to create a loop. Be mindful that this may affect the resistance level.3. Lacrosse Ball
You can also use any other ball with similar size and firmness. For example, a tennis ball is of similar size, but will be much softer.
