As we build, MFS Greenwood strives to offer relevant services and programs that meet the needs and desires of our community.
You can submit comments to help as we lay out our plans. You are always welcome to get in touch with us for more discussion!

If your comments are about a specific program or event, please be sure to include details as relevant (e.g. Program name/ date of event)

Considerations as we lay out our plans

Military and Veteran families come in all forms and self-define to include anyone of significance to Canadian Armed Forces personnel or Veterans.   

When planning our programs and services, we consider these aspects, among others. Your feedback can help us better understand your needs.

Frequency and location:

  • Weekdays or weekends
  • Morning, afternoon, or evening
  • Weekly, monthly, or one-time
  • The most appropriate room in the Morfee Centre

Stages of military service:

  • Relocation
  • Absence/Deployment
  • Transition/Discharge from the military

Family composition:

  • With or without children
  • With or without pets
  • One or more CAF members or veterans
  • Ages, special needs

Types of programming:

  • Informal community gatherings – e.g., coffee meetings, open houses
  • Sessions on specific topics – e.g., workshops and information sessions
  • Virtual, in person, or self-directed
  • Child-centered or adult-focused or for children and adults together

Areas of well-being:

  • Physical – e.g., health workshops
  • Psychological/emotional – e.g., mental health first aid training, stress management
  • Intellectual – Lunch and learn sessions (various topics presented for 30 minutes)
  • Professional – e.g., spouse employment/career counseling
  • Social/family – e.g., workshops on inclusion and diversity
  • Spiritual/moral – e.g., mentoring, chaplains
  • Finance – e.g., budgeting, investing, taxes
  • Environment – e.g., workshops on emergency preparedness

How comments are used

We will use your comments internally to design programs and messages that meet your needs. 

If there are pertinent comments or suggestions, we may use them in internal or external communications. 

Goal

Our goal is to ensure CAF families and members have programs and services that support mental health, social connectivity, and community building. 

We also offer support to families through any obstacles or challenges they may face while in the community. 

We strive to build strong communities and resilient families.

    "We did the together tonight mystery box date night kit. It was a fun little puzzle, cute that they included some snacks. As always, having small kids means it's great to have fun date night things that we can do at home!"

    Connecting with others

    I was so excited to have the drop in and tumble tots programming start back up, my 2 and 4 year old love it, and it's been a great way to contact with other parents in the area.

    It's so important to have somewhere my kids can interact with others their age and try new activities.

    Also love that you've kept it going through the summer, we've found it hard to have it stop in the summer in the past! 

    Thanks for all the work you're doing to get things up and running again.
